There is a lot of symbolism when it comes to men and wearing rings. Men wearing rings on their hands has been a tradition that dates back centuries, from Vikings and the Egyptians; to Aristocrats, Royals, and Rappers. Today you will see the likes of Harry Styles rocking a ring on almost every finger. Here are a few ideas on how to wear this popular jewelry:
Which Finger?
There is no correct finger to wear rings on unless it is your wedding ring, which goes on the left ring finger (one in from the pinky). If you go for multiple Rings, then it can be a good idea to space them out. Especially if you are wearing larger rings as if they are on adjacent fingers, they can clash together, restrict movement, and even scratch from rubbing together.
When it does come to the pinky fingers, a small ring usually fits best, with something like a signet ring being a great go-to on this finger. This is a classy addition to a finger, and you can not get much more sophisticated than Prince Charles, who famously dons this type of ring on his pinky.
Next is the ring finger. This finger is aptly named for being notoriously where engagement and wedding rings reside. Most rings can suit this finger, but with it still being one of the smaller fingers, a sleeker gold ring or silver ring may look best.
Middle fingers are similar in how they can suit any style of ring, but an important step is finding the right size ring. With the middle finger being the biggest, a ring that is too small can look out of place, and a ring that is too big can get in the way of the index finger, which is the most active finger. If you are also wearing a wedding ring, a middle finger ring will likely rub against it, so it is best to only wear a middle finger ring on the right hand if you do not want them clashing together. If you can find the right style and size, this is a very suave place for a ring to reside.
A fashionable, chunky, statement maker of a ring is perfect for the index finger (as long as it does not prevent movement of your most used finger). As this finger is the most active and is used to point with and grasp objects, having a ring on this finger will catch peoples attention, so why not make it a ring that people will remember?
This leaves us with the thumb. The thumb often isn’t utilized as a ring location, especially when compared to the rest of the hand, so this is another chance to make a statement. The thumb is usually pretty big, therefore, a large ring can look right at home in this location. Due to the thumbs location, there is no real chance of the thumb and index finger rings clashing, but if you choose to wear another ring on the same hand, it may look cleaner still to space it away from the thumb.
